Jump to the end for a full-list of recommended tours of Mo'orea!

1. Lagoon Tours and Snorkeling:
No visit to Mo'orea is complete without exploring its mesmerizing lagoon. Crystal-clear waters teem with marine life, including colorful fish, rays, and even sharks! Take a lagoon tour on a traditional outrigger canoe or a catamaran to explore the island's stunning coastline and discover secluded bays. Make sure you bring your snorkeling gear to immerse yourself in the vibrant coral gardens of Tiahura, Temae, Hauru, and other beautiful lagoons.
The best lagoon tours include a visit to a small motu, where you'll immerse yourself in Mo'orea's unique Polynesian culture through authentic cultural experiences: enjoy a traditional Tahitian meal - which is a delightful blend of fresh seafood, local taro, sweet potato, and fruit, and flavorsome dishes - as well as local music.
2. Dolphin and Whale Watching:
Mo'orea is blessed with a rich marine life that includes playful dolphins and majestic whales. Consider joining a dolphin and whale watching tour - and take care to book with local eco-friendly operators who prioritize the well-being of these gentle creatures. From July to November, you can witness humpback whales during their migratory period, where they travel from the Antarctic to mate and give birth in the waters of Mo'orea. The sight of these giants gracefully breaching the water's surface is truly awe-inspiring. If you're lucky enough to visit during this time, this is easily my most recommended Mo'orea Excursion! Not to be missed.
Be sure to go with a trusted provider and only in small groups. I am familiar with the whale tour operators in Mo'orea and am happy to point you in the right direction - just ask. We recommend Scubapiti on Sunset Beach for diving and whale tours - tell them Elizabeth sent you! They are locally owned, offer excellent pricing, and most importantly, are respectful of the whales.
3. Catch a local show:
Mo'orea offers excellent entertainment throughout the week. If you are staying at the Manava, Hilton, or Sofitel, there are cultural performance nights at the hotel restaurants that you won't want to miss. If you are not staying at one of these hotels, you can still drop by the hotel for dinner and catch the show. All mentioned hotels offer a buffet dinner with the performance.
Mo'orea Golf Lodge and Mo'orea Airport also have local artists come perform - fill out my contact form if you'd like an up-to-date list of all local music/ performances in Mo'orea.
But wait, there's more!
There are many other activities to be experienced on Mo'orea. For example, you can also try your hand at paddle boarding, parasailing, or even va'a (traditional Tahitian paddling) for a unique perspective of the island's beauty from above.
